Sky Stream Puck keeps turning off.

I've only had it 3 weeks or so. I can watch BBC on it but if I go anywhere else i.e. Sky or Netflix channels it just turns itself and the TV off. I've tried rebooting, turning the power off etc. etc. Nothing works. I've come back to Sky against my better judgment and this is not going to make e stay.

Its a EU thing that it has to go on standy in 3 hours so turn off every 3 hours, I find it still anoying, it turns of while Eastenders or Emmerdale is on, Sky Q never went on to standy because you could disable it so had that on all day and never turn off on standy, Sky Stream only uses 5v - 1.12AMPS(5.6 watts) so its abit silly when it uses £0.02 per 13 hours a day so uses as much as a Andriod box or a mobile phone charging on slow change(5v) Fast Changing(12V).
Here is a picute showing the charge for 5.6 watts for 13 hours, your michowave uses more and I use it every day so I can eat.. 🙂 Just wanted to show  so prove it uses very little of electric.

I like working things out like its a puzzle... 🙂

I was a PC Engineer and fix peoples PCs by going to there house, Windows XP was known to slow down PCs over time and clog up the PCs RAM and its start-up and had to reinstall it for the customer, the only way you could fix WinXP.

Re: Sky Stream Puck keeps turning off.

And when it says 5.6 watts so 1 and a half amps, it can only use that much and not anymore, the PSU can only go up to that, you can get 5v PSUs that go up to 4 amps like on a Raspberry PI4 so 2,3 and 4 amps.
Sky Steam uses half a amp more then a Amazon Echo, it uses 5v 1 amp.

Re: Sky Stream Puck keeps turning off.

@Whitequeen65does this happen at random times, or is it more like a standby mode like @spannernick1 described?

If it's standby mode then it should show a message on screen asking you to pick up the remote. You may find that if you pause and come back in 10-20minutes time it's already turned off.

But if it's different, and it turns off mid-show without warning there may be something else at play here. And I suspect it is something other than standby, because you mention it happens on Netflix too.
