Re: Sky stream - picture stuttering/frame drops

@joeabbott the "Real Time" facility should lesson the load on the servers as individual streams are hosted by BT/Openreach as it's running on their MAUD technology which is an evolution is Multicast but designed to be available to all ISP's and broadcasters that want access to it...

Re: Sky stream - picture stuttering/frame drops

@matt77303 All I can tell is that it's just Live TV through Sky TV directly ('terrestrial' channels).

@Nigelb1972 This is the first I have heard about MAUD (interesting technology!) I assume it's like American CDNs redistributing Netflix locally rather than from central server(s)? Sky must be redistributing Live IPTV at local exchanges?

Nonetheless, it doesn't excuse a shoddy service from Sky, as it's majorly expensive! Maybe it's similar to other people having issues with UHD Sports, apparently only being rectified a year later 🥳;

Maybe it's time to whack the Freeview aerial out for BBC ONE and ITV1. I have to admit, I haven't noticed it on other channels, besides the PSBs?

Re: Sky stream - picture stuttering/frame drops

I've hd my OS update to the same Matt and it's become noticeably worse and happens on all channels even Sky News and Sky Sports News

Re: Sky stream - picture stuttering/frame drops

@joeabbott MAUD (multicast assisted unicast delivery) is a proprietary BT technology that does pretty much the same as Multicast but isn't locked to a specific ISP (BT/EE)...

So the primary stream is sent the local distribution point in bulk and users pick the stream up there rather than at the host server. It reduces the delay against live from around 40 seconds to 10 seconds, basically the same as satellite delivery.

Have the same issue here...QS040 build version.

had the puck for a good few months now and never had an issue. Only started to notice it over the last few days.

Re: Sky stream - picture stuttering/frame drops

I was coming on to ask the same question. It is happening on any live channel but the apps are okay.

Ruins watching the tv live, espcially the world cup! Restarted the box multiple times and my router but no difference.

Done the checks and it says everything is fine. Have Sky fibre 300 and has been fine until the last few days

Just dropping in to say that I am still having this same issue.

Still no sign of a fix, Sky?

Re: Sky stream - picture stuttering/frame drops

Having the same problem. Started a couple of weeks ago and has been getting worse. Today has been terrible. Rebooting helps a bit but shouldn't have to keep doing that.  Normally 'catch up' programmes we're OK but it has started on  there now too (and on a Sky channel programme). This is not cheap and we should be getting a much better service. Totally unacceptable. And don't tell me Sky doesn't know this is happening. If I had the option to take my business elsewhere I would.

Sky Stream Jittery

So today one of my pucks has started displaying a brief jitter every 30 secs to 2 minutes when watching live TV. I've carried out a speedtest on Netflix which is showing 89Mbps. It's on a wired connection. I've rebooted the router and box. I've tried connecting wirelessly. I've tried altering the sound settings as mentioned in other posts. All to no avail. My other 3 boxes are fine (and are all wireless), so I seriously doubt that my internet connection is the issue. My internet connection when testing at the router is upwards of 900Mbps with a 9 ms ping. This is affecting all the channels I've tried this afternoon (Sky F1 UHD, Sky F1 HD, Sky Cricket HD and now Sky Thriller HD). It seems that there have been a lot of issues regrding similar issues recently (some of which having been closed as answered when this clearly isn't the case). Are Sky fobbing us off? I've only had Sky 1 month or so and this is now my 2nd issue, I'm already seriously regretting signing up, as it appears to be a premium price for a less than premiun service.

Re: Sky Stream Jittery

Can you swap with one of the other pucks just to see if the problem follows with the iffy puck. It probably will but it's worth doing as it will then rule out the location as the problem.
