Ok, just had a peek at the Ryder Cup golf in UHD on my Sky Stream and my TV tells me its in HDR. Now, my aged LG OLED only supports HDR10 so is Sky now supporting additional HDR formats as well as HLG ?. I'm not the first to witness this as Ive seen it mentioned in another forum.
Anyone have any further insight on this ?

I wouldn't have thought so. HDR10 is the default standard but HLG is also open source so it's possibly built into your TV but not advertised as such

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreIs any of the Ryder Cup being broadcast in UHD anyway or is it just upscaled HD?

I'd think that highly unlikely unless you're watching via the Discovery+ app which is more likely to have HDR10 than a live Sky broadcast stream.
LG OLED's from 2016 gained HLG via a firmware update and 2017 models onwards had it as standard so how old is yours?
Could it be that you've selected a 'fake' HDR picture setting which is artificially giving the look of HDR from an SDR source?

Mines from 2015 (EF950V) and it certainly doesnt support HLG. It doesnt do pseudo HDR either. I defo have not had any LG firmware updates recently so something is amiss - very strange.

If it's a 2015 model then it actually pre-dates the HDR10 standards as the design and specs would have been set in 2014 and the HDR10 profile wasn't announced until August 2015.
I suspect it's just detecting a higher bandwidth colour signal but doesn't know how to differentiate between HLG or HDR10 so just switches into its only HDR mode.

Sky only use HLG for HDR.

Sky exclusively use HLG only for HDR as do the BBC. Regards

You're not the only one @Suskha, I've got the same TV as you and noticed the same thing. All Sky Sports & TNT UHD content now enables the HDR10 setting on Sky Stream. It's a nice bonus, considering my TV is now 8 years old. Not many people have reported it because I suspect most have replaced this ageing TV.

Yep - the TV defo goes into some kind of HDR mode which according to my A/V amp is HDR10. I suspect that Sky have incorrectly enabled a HDR marker on thier UHD streams - I read about another Sky stream user who saw Dolby Vision enabled on thier TV for Sky Sports UHD. Who knows what the hell is going on ???

Well I don't know how either, but I hope they don't change it back!
Had my TV calibrated back in 2015 and still pleased with the picture, so this is like another upgrade.
