@Nimbob

I assume you also mean the "super users" [Removed] @Super+Anthony , it's clear from both his posts as well as his signature that he has a disability, [Removed] as a Sky employee would it be possible to get in touch with him and as gesture of goodwill arrange a puck replacement ?

Interestingly if you google comcast seems they are concerned with Sky ( their latest purchase) loosing a lot if subscribers since the takeover and have made a lot if sky senior staff  redundant - I wonder if this  is part if the reason they are struggling to solve this - lack of appropriate resources ,

As is often the case with corporate takeovers, in late 2018 a proportion of long-serving Sky staff will have found themselves with significant cash sums from the enforced sale of their aculmulated shares and may well have decided to reassess their career paths: that's a known phenomenon in all businesses but particularly affects the tech industry.  There was also an inevitable change in management as Comcast moved their people into some senior positions, which would have been expected by their stockholders.

Of course there has also been a transition from the historical Sky technology base to the Comcast platforms on which Glass and Stream sit, so that undoubtedly represents a loss of knowledge accumulated over decades.

Regarding 'concern', back in 2022 the Comcast Corporation wrote down the value of their Sky Group division by nearly nine billion dollars which was a pretty clear admission that they had massively overpaid in the bidding war with Disney: a subsequent global pandemic and a ground war in Europe didn't exactly help either.  They also divested Germany-Austria-Switzerland to RTL Group last year, leaving 'Sky' as UK, RoI and Italy

@TimmyBGood  Yes . I am familiar with corporate take overs and how they affect staff and loss of expert knowledge  , HSBC took over the bank I used to work for abroad   farmed our jobs out to china , and lost  all our expertise .... hence eventual early retirement ..

Re: Sky Sports UHD picture keeps stuttering

@superanthony surely can be helped with a V2 puck

Re: Sky Sports UHD picture keeps stuttering

Well after complaining to sky about the whole stuttering issues they finally replaced it and said it could be a fault with the puck from manufacturer. I can thankfully say I received the newer puck and have had no issues past the last two nights like prior.

I sincerely hope so. But he had many issues before this started, while most of us didn't. I can't help thinking there is some other issue involved in his set up. But who knows, hopefully a "V2" puck will be the answer.

Re: Sky Sports UHD picture keeps stuttering

I've just watched the footy on TNT in perfectly pin sharp UHD, with zero lag or stutter, & flawless Dolby Atmos with no audio dropouts on the V1 puck. Just saying.

Re: Sky Sports UHD picture keeps stuttering

What exactly are you "just saying"?

Because having read through your contribution to this thread, all you seem to do is antagonise people with the attitude 'because it works for me, it should work for you'.

The truth is, Stream doesn't work for far too many people and this issue with sport via Sky Sports channels is the tip of the iceberg.

The puck is underpowered coupled with the way content is delivered (CDN) = a wholly frustrating experience. You've got to be lucky in connecting to a server that's not overly populated. If you're not, you have no chance, regardless of the download speed of your service.

Having met the prescribed requirements of 35Mbps download speeds, Stream should be plug and play, but it isn't.

Re: Sky Sports UHD picture keeps stuttering

Sorry @Star-Lord.  I'm afraid you've got completely the wrong end of the stick. Mine is also terrible on Sky Sports UHD & I'm as frustrated as everyone. I've been hyper critical of Sky on this thread & how long it has been going on. The "just saying" was to try & give some balance to this ongoing argument that the gen 1 is somehow an inferior puck that can't handle the workload of streaming flawless UHD content. My only point was it seems to handle the job perfectly on certain channels suggesting a delivery issue rather than a chipset capacity issue. Strange that you think my intention was to antagonise people. But everyone's entitled to their opinion of course.

Re: Sky Sports UHD picture keeps stuttering

Like many of you I suffered from the stuttering issues on Sky Sports UHD channels - as well as other bugs with Sky stream.

A couple of months ago I decided to leave Sky Stream by reaching an agreement to terminate my contract with Sky.  Instead I  subscribed to a similar value deal with NOW  Sports  (also Sky / Comcast owned)  and have had no issues at all UHD with Dolby Atmos.

I like the concept of Sky Stream however there were just too many performance issues at the moment.

There are pros and cons of watching via Sky Stream versus the Sky Now platform which probably suit different user preferences on how they watch their entertainment i.e. what and how many devices, where they watch and their viewing style / preferences. In my case I can now watch sports on all my devices without having to subscribe to whole home, I am not tied into a long contract with other TV packages. On the negative side the playlist functionality and the user interface is not as good as Sky stream. However it works without issue.

I hope that Sky manages to resolve the ongoing issue with Sky Stream but for my viewing style I am currently satisfied with the solution that I now have.

Re: Sky Sports UHD picture keeps stuttering

Hi Fellow Suffers

I've been following this thread with interest for a long time and also have all the issues with UHD FOOTBALL etc with the Benny Hill affect etc with the V1 puck.

I'm a VIP of 29 Years and have just come off a call with Sky. All the usual waffle and tried the blame my high spec TV, unbelievable, my BB is 150MB. Said they checked the puck and it’s not showing any issues, they have no idea what they are doing and just fobbing us off.

Asked for a new puck and they turned me down. Explained that I’m paying for UHD but can’t watch UHD as it’s unwatchable. Not even an offer for a refund.

I have an IT background and think sky know that the issues are with the V1 puck and the rubbish chipset but don’t want to send out a new V2 puck to everyone with the UHD package, they could then send out the returned V1 pucks to new customers who don’t have the UHD package.

They pick up millions every month with us mugs paying £6 for a service that’s unwatchable, shocking service.
That’s me done with SKY now.

I’m going to Contact Trading standards as well to see what they say as its daylight robbery charging people for something that doesn’t work properly.

Re: Sky Sports UHD picture keeps stuttering

Or maybe, just like the recently resolved screen tearing issue that many ppl also insisted was because of the V1 puck & it's 'rubbish chipset',  it's possibly a delivery issue at source.
