Re: Sky Sports UHD picture keeps stuttering

It's wrong and ridiculous that some people at Sky say there are issues and others say there aren't. Why also some keep blaming our broadband is wrong as well

Sky need to sort this out quick and with more urgency

As you say @KG40 it's laughable, infuriating and annoying

Re: Sky Sports UHD picture keeps stuttering

I've been having this issue for over 6 months. It's not new and I'm no nearer to getting Sky to fix it.  I have a 1Gbps Virgin connection, and the puck is connected directly to the router via ethernet.  I have a ping trace on permanent loop to check if there are any internet issues, and I'm getting max 15ms.    Last week Sky forced a software update to the latest version, and this base tge problem worse - I'm now getting picture judder on a number of other channels ☹️.  I get zero problens watching UHD transmissions on the same TV, via the same router and internet connection on Netflix, Virgin/TNT,  Prime.  Shocking service.

Re: Sky Sports UHD picture keeps stuttering

The majority don't have an issue otherwise it would make actual news. A tiny, tiny number on here have issues because either they've not set up their box correctly or have insufficient broadband capacity.

Re: Sky Sports UHD picture keeps stuttering

My last comment is not accurate now as some seem to have been removed

Let's hope Sky can sort out these issues as last night was awful for many of us

500mb hardwired sky fibre and everything on auto is setting it up correctly.

You shouldn't have to turn on and off the box and change settings. It should just run normally whatever setting.

It's an obvious hardware issue with these boxes which have been made cheaply and the more people switching to sky stream is putting more stress on the servers, it's not different to playing on the PlayStation if there are too many people online the servers slow down and you get lag.

Re: Sky Sports UHD picture keeps stuttering

Completely agree @JStewart15 like you I have everything set up correctly. The fault is clearly with the puck

Re: Sky Sports UHD picture keeps stuttering

I agree it appears to be a software issue related to the clearing down of internal caches. Yes Sky need to fix it as it is unreasonable to require a restart before a game. However I don't believe it to be caused by the number of users online. I normally switch off LiveScore for matches I am watching however in SSMELSUHD following a reboot I can leave it on and the goals are always notified after they happen on screen. A few seconds of blurring last night but lucky to have no Benny Hill.

Maybe @Ribsky could be useful and tell us his equipment he uses/has in order to help the forum such as tv, hdmi, Atmos, puck chip set, internet provider, Ethernet/wifi as to help others.

If it's a tiny number of us why don't Sky just replace the pucks.

I disagree, you only have to look through the threads and see how many posts there are about this issue

Clearly it's not a "Tiny Tiny number" otherwise it wouldn't be so widely reported

To say that people have either set up their puck incorrectly or have poor broadband is frankly insulting!

Re: Sky Sports UHD picture keeps stuttering

I would be interested to know what software version people's pucks are on where they are still having problems.  My puck had a software update about a week ago and went to UI version 3.100.0.  Since then, I get a few seconds of stuttering after I switch to SportMEUHD then it settles down and is fine.  My puck is now set to auto for both picture and audio.

Re: Sky Sports UHD picture keeps stuttering

Mine is on 3.100.0 also, after Sky did a forced update about a week ago.  I've always had the judder for 10-15 secs when first tuning to 401.  Sometimes it settles down to a tolerable viewable experience, but it is more usual for it to degrade rapidly.  Last evenings Chelsea vs. Arsenal match was such an example.  My picture is set to UHD and sound to Passthrough.  I agree with consensus, the symptoms point to a hardware issue with the puck (lack of memory or graphics memory) or software issue (poor cache management), and not variables associated with the local settings or environment.

Re: Sky Sports UHD picture keeps stuttering

Apologies for what will no doubt be already answered questions, but this thread is just too long to go through;

1) Is there any disadvatange to changing settings to "Passthrough" instead of Auto?

2) Is there any disadvatange to changing settings to "UHD" instead of Auto?

3) Is the recommendation to use channel 922 instead of 401?

(For what it's worth, to add to the data here is my situation; 1 Gbps full fibre connection, 2x pucks hardwired dierectly to router, sub 10ms pings. Had Stream for about 18 months. Used to be fine for UHD football, but over recent months has got worse and worse with stuttering. Now impossible to watch anything without rebooting before a match).
