Hi All,
I've been with Sky for 25 years now and I am seriously thinking about leaving them, mainly because they have just increased my monthly cost from £34 to £45. I have Sky Signature plus Sky HD and I constantly feel like I am being ripped off. So much for loyalty eh
I am also thinking about Sky Stream as another possibility as this does seem to be a much cheaper option and HD comes as standard.
A couple of things are putting me off Stream though, first the lip sync issue which I have seen on a friends Sky Stream and secondly the 30 odd second lag between that and Sky Q, mainly on sporting events etc. I have a decent 500mb internet connection so hopefully that will help.
Any advice/opinions would be much appreciated 👍

Is you friend using PCM or pass through?
Connection speed has little effect on streaming lag ... Sky are working on reducing streaming lag😉

Thanks for your reply...
No idea about PCM or pass through. What should it be?
It's just a standard setup using the TV speakers
Thanks

Unless the TV is capable of 3.1/5.1/Atmos, chances are the TV speakers are stereo only. Setting the sound output from auto to PCM should solve the lip sync issue.

Ok thanks. I'll check the next time I am there

@Paul686 Regarding the time lag on sports channels Sky Main Event channel 401 will give you two options when you select it, one is 'Watch from the start' the other is 'Live sync'. If you choose the latter it should be in time with the actual live event. They are planning to roll it out on other channels but no news yet as to when.

If you like being able to record programmes to watch whenever you like and the ability to easily fast forward through ads then you'd be better sticking with what you have.
Sky Stream is much more under Sky's control. It can take a while for certain things to be made available for streaming and certain things like movies sometimes need additional subscriptions in order to watch later on demand, depending on which service holds the streaming right.
Sky Stream can work well for some people but others still find it problematic and very different to Sky+HD/Sky Q in terms of useability.
