Sky Q to Sky Stream ?

Hi,

My Sky Q contract is due for renewal quite soon, would users of Sky Stream recommend a change to Stream or should I stick with Q ?

I've looked at the channel list for Steam and all the channels I usually watch are available on the platform so that's not an issue, only thing I'm thinking about is losing the capacity to record, but as most things appear to be available via catch-up these days it's not too concerning, albeit being unable to skip ads which can be frustrating at times.

Thanks for any advice

Hi @Chorlty226 so it really is a personable preference. If you scan the forum you will find loads of post of people who have loved the jump over to streaming and loads of people who switched back over to Sky Q after testing the platform.

If you are a person who is used to streaming and tend to watch a lot of content from the likes of Netflix, Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video etc then you are likely to find the jump over to the streaming platform more palatable when compared to users who tend to watch ( and record) more from the linear channels.

My personal experience, I moved from Sky + HD to Stream back in November and absolutely love it. Yes i used to record lots of things when i had Sky + but that was mainly because i could rather than i had to. Speaking from my personal experience i've not had an issue with being unable to watch something i want to watch when i want it, as either the show has been made available on cloud recording or its available on a on-demand app that is either free or i have. an active subscription to.

Is the streaming platform perfect? Certainly not. However Sky typically release new software updates every couple of months and are adding new and highly requested features and bug fixes into each update and the system has certainly improved even over the past 6 months i've had it. You will likely find some annoyances with how it works, but there is typically always some form of workaround that can be adopted to most issues or greivances with the platform.

I'd suggest giving Stream a try. When you switch over to it Sky will allow you to switch back over to Sky Q within the first 31 days of your Stream contract so you really don't have anything to lose giving it a try. You might like it, you might hate it, or you might think its not quite mature enough for you yet and perhaps may think you will try in again after another 18 months of Sky Q. Sky certainly provide the flexibility to allow customers to see if streaming suits them.
