Sky Go and Playlist

Hi all,

I recently moved from Sky Q to Sky stream. I've been a fairly happy Sky user for 19 years. However, I can't help but think that moving to Sky Stream has been a step backwards. I used to enjoy cooking a roast on a Sunday whilst watching recordings of either football or the F1 via the Sky Q box. This is no longer possible. Sky Go has been rendered almost useless now. Even BBC channels aren't available anymore. How can Sky release a new product (Stream), yet remove features from such an important service (Sky Go). Is there any talk of adding Playlists to Sky Go so I can watch stuff on catchup?

Its another step towards me sending my 2 pucks back. I totally wasn't aware of this when sold the Sky pucks so hopefully people find this info useful if you are thinking of moving over.

Sky Go is a bit of a legacy product now, it works to a degree with Sky Stream but it's really made as a companion to Sky Q. There's nothing you're doing wrong, it's just not the same feature set.

Perhaps one day there'll be an updated version with more functionality but we'll have to wait and see.

Sky Go is legacy product which was developed prior to the Comcast takeover and for the satelliete platform so personally i can't really see Sky Go being updated to incorporate integration with the Sky streaming platform.

Its worth noting that even if Sky Go did have playlist integration, it would be quite limited in what it would be able to playback as most of the content on the Sky Streaming platform is played back from other apps, with really only Sky content being played back directly from Sky ( or any content which happens to get cloud recorded).

In terms of availability of BBC channels, that was a BBC decision who want people to be viewing content from iPlayer, hence why iplayer is the way to watch the BBC channels whilst on the go instead of Sky Go. In order for the BBC to justify the license fee, and as part of negoiations for the next broadcast charter they need accurate metrics to show the perceived value being delivered by the BBC, and of course getting metrics to see what shows and popular and should get more investment is also useful data for them.
