Sign up for stream
When you sign up for stream do you get a brand new puck and remote or can you get one that's been returned by a customer, whether they returned it within the 31 day cooling off period or it was faulty and has been refurbished.
I have also noticed on this forum that the pucks can have issues and I'm also aware that people mainly visit forums like this when they do have a problem. That said, do the majority of stream users go trouble free?
I currently have Apple TV with Now which is okay, the main thing I don't like about it is on Apple TV I have TV launcher which just takes you to the app for the channel you have selected, on stream you have the full TV guide and it takes you straight to the channel selected. Now recently updated the user interface which I don't particularly like.
The Stream interface would suit me better I think, the only issue I have is the reliability of the puck.
If anyone had the same reservations when signing up for stream I would be happy to hear how you are finding it now. Thanks in advance.

Re: Sign up for stream
@Cooper+D To be honest I am unsure about the answer to your first question regarding the new puck. However as you rightly surmise these forums give an unbalance view as it is mainly for help with problems. Most of the puck issues relate to poor internet connection, or if not connected by an Ethernet cable, wrong positioning of the router and puck.

Re: Sign up for stream
@Cooper+D It's worth asking when you sign up if it's a brand new puck or refurbished. Personally, I would expect it to be brand new.

Re: Sign up for stream
I would say the pucks are reliable. Sky not so much. Had Stream for a year and a half, & only really had 3 issues.
1- when you set series links for sports games (ie Premier League football, or F1 Grand Prix's), sometimes random matches or races will be missing from the playlist. Most of them will be there but some randomly aren't & a year and a half later, I still haven't been given an explanation. There's also no way of watching full length replays of sports events on Sky Stream, like you can on Discovery, Amazon etc.
2- There's a thing called Sky+ where you can have 30 sporting events live on one night. One evening in the winter, this cut out for everybody due to an issue on Sky's side & nobody could watch any of the sports. To be fair they seemed to have fixed it afterwards & I haven't noticed it happen again.
3- Stream went down on Thursday this week for most people. It started working again for most people, but for some people like myself, my TV hasn't come back. It just says "Software error" on the screen & I've had no TV for 3 days now. I called them up & they've sent me a new puck to come next week. However, I'm pretty sure there's nothing wrong with the puck & the issue for me & others stems from the system going down on Thursday. There doesn't seem to be any proper technical team you can talk though, so basically I don't have any TV for the foreseeable future. So it looks like I will probably have to cancel
