Secondhand Sky Stream Pucks
I understand a few people have posted previsouly about using secondhand Sky Stream pucks and there has been some mixed advcie given which is confusing so I thought id advsie further and give my experience. Around three weeks ago I wanted to sign up to Sky whole home but was aware of the cost of £39.95 that an additional Sky Stream puck box would cost, I spoke with the advsior on the phone at Sky custoemr service and asked him if I used a secondhand one I had that I bought from an auctioniong wesbiste online then would it be okay and more importantly would it work, I was told they had no problem with me doing this and that it wouldnt be locked at all, I gave him the serial number of my new Sky Stream puck that I bought and away we went with everything working very quickly.
I thought that this may help people that are considering using a seocnhand Sky box.

Re: Secondhand Sky Stream Pucks
@Tommy2 And for anyone else considering purchasing a second hand puck from auction sites
pucks at launch were customer owned until sky changed to loaning them on the 23rd February 2024.
therefore anyone purchasing a second hand puck online must issue that the seller originally ordered the puck in question before the 23rd February 2024 as you could be handling stolen property
Sky can tell from the serial number on the puck when trying to register it the status of the puck ie customer owned or loaned

@Tommy2 the long and short of it is, you can't sell property you don't own. I suspect the Sky adviser simply wasn't aware of the implications. What they said can't be relied on.
Sky have previously taken action against those who attempt to sell loaned equipment.

@Tommy2 Exactly sky has rightly recognised that the puck you purchased second hand is customer owned and are free to use it on your own account, but had it not been you could have been in hot water for handling stolen goods hence why it's important to establish ownership status before contacting sky to register a device

Re: Secondhand Sky Stream Pucks
@SKY1992bf @Mark39 sure I can only advsie on my epxerience as I mentioned in the post, and I am going by what I was told by Customer Services. Personally the bottom line he gave me was that theyre glad to be able to put it to use again, I can see this too as theyre now able to ahve this Sky box re used and get another £15 a month from me for a wholehome package thats been sold. Obviously for me perrsonally I would always return Sky owned property back to Sky. Regardless the one I have is customer owned and its been made clear that I can use it.
