Maybe I'll get whole home and use my existing spare puck and maybe add another at a later date.
Does any whole home subscriber know if there are ever any offers to add another puck free/at a discount in the app/my account?

Never seen one personally, always been £39.95 set up fee for any additional pucks. Existing Glass & 1 puck with Whole Home here.

None, other than the phone operator in the upgrades team adding it to my account.
I'd have no problems paying a fiver for postage, but £40 is offensive given I don't get to keep it at the end of the contract.
I f you did get to keep pucks ... you'd only be able to use them as door stops ... without an active subscription they have zero functionality😉
I tested my customer-owned puck before I sold it and once I factory reset it was able to re-activate it to my Sky account, even though I didn't have a Streaming TV subscription. All apps worked and the EPG was visible but you just couldn't watch any of the live channel streams. That's not quite zero functionality... and probably why Sky switched to the loan model, because they don't want former customers using their hardware to access apps on their servers without paying them any money.
That was an unusual outcome ... as others reported zero functionality😉

As it runs on the same OS as the Glass, it makes complete sense that the Stream puck would essentially work like a Sky Glass would with on active Sky sub when connected to the TV. Obviously the loan model works around that slight issue seeing how the pucks now need to be returned.

I do think the 40 quid fee is a bit excessive.
I have been. Sky stream customer for about a year, I have had to replace 2 boxes and 2 remotes, so I fully take advantage and insist that sky replace them promptly when faulty. So I do see this as a slight advantage.

And so they should if they're going to charge you £40.
I've never had an Amazon firestick go faulty. That cost me £20, and can plug it in wherever I go.

FireTV sticks are ver robust devices ... everybody who has a Puck should have one as a backup against their failure🤔

A one-off charge for "Freeview" channels would be a benfit to us at the end of the contract. I remember the days of being able to buy "Freesat" viewing cards when you'd had enough of paying for Sky channels.
