I used TP powerline adapters for a while and for the most part they worked well - you will lose approx 10% of your line speed on a good circuit but it's not too bad . I bought a set from Facebook marketplace for a tenner

I switched to a mesh WiFi system (again used from eBay) and find this is much more stable and useful espaciallly for reaching all already of the house

This is the challenge, too many people recommending ethernet and powerline.  Sort the wifi out with a good mesh system and you benefit the whole house and not jut the TV 🙂

Re: SKY PUCK LOSING INTERNET CONNECTION!

I am a new customer and having the exact same issue. Sky have changed the router and all seemed okay for a few days, not the TV is losing the connection. I am using a network cable between hub and puck. Did you ever get this resolved? Cheers.

@Alastair69 I can think of a couple of things to try if you have not already done so. As you are using an Ethernet cable make sure you have Wi-Fi turned off in the network settings.

Also, to stop your puck losing the network connection turn ON the Networked Standby mode in the Settings> Start up & Standby menu.

Re: SKY PUCK LOSING INTERNET CONNECTION!

Thanks for the help, but perhaps I should have clarified what equipment I have. I'm using my own TV, not Glass. The puck is connected to the router (hub) using an Ethernet (cable) connection. The TV is a Sony OLED 2018 model. Connection to the puck is HTML To recap, the TV  intermittently drops off with the message 'no internet connection'. Yesterday, for example, the TV dropped off, but other devices on the local network stayed connected and had internet access. In the past, sometimes the local network goes down too, ie I lose internet access on all devices. The 'cure' is to reboot the puck and/or the router, then it is okay for a few hours or a few days. Sky have already replaced the router - is the next step a replacement puck?

Re: SKY PUCK LOSING INTERNET CONNECTION!

Hi

Our broadband is with Virgin - I bought a set of powerline adapters as per an earlier suggestion and it seems more stable since.  I've just seen the advice regarding switching off the wifi on the TV which I was not aware of so may do that also

@MIKE681

There may be some confusion here.  You do not need to turn off Wi-Fi on the tv but you do need to turn it off on the puck.  The setting is found under settings - network - advanced.

Also make sure that in settings under Start up and standby that you have Network standby mode set to ON and Overnight power saving set to OFF.

Re: SKY PUCK LOSING INTERNET CONNECTION!

this is happening to me constantly, hard wiring is not an option and besides, they're a wireless capable device so should straight forward just work!! No excuses!  Sky need to sort this out because they've sold a lot of people a dud with Sky glass.  I'm sick of it, I'm seriously thinking of cancelling all of my Sky TV and sending everything back.  Absolutely ridiculous.

Wifi networks get affected by interference, the interference levels will be different in every household so that is not something practical that any ISP will offer to solve on any of their standard plans.

The standard routers offerd by most ISPs are very cheap and basic, and Wifi networks will get interference from neighbouring Wifi networks, other electrical devices and also the layout and makeup of one's own home will affect a Wifi network.

Make sure your router is out in the open, away from other electrical devices, not low down on the floor and away from things like radiators to help ensure the signal is as strong as possible.

Most ISPs will have more advanced packages you can upgrade to, where they will provide a better more expensive router and perhaps Wifi extenders to help provide a strong and stable Wifi connection through a property.
