Repeating segments
This streaming solution sure does some strange things.
When my wife was watching a live tennis game, she said after a commercial, it repeated a segment from earlier. She eventually had to give up on it.
Then, when she's watching an earlier golf game from the playlist, it does something similar, and repeats things she's already seen. It showed the same segment multiple times for her, I think after a commercial each time. The progress bar progresses though as if it was playing what it should be playing.
Just now, we went to watch an old episode of the game show Lingo. Strangely, it said it was over an hour long (I think it's normally 40 minutes). After the first commercial, it replayed the first part of the game again - but the timeline said it was in the right place. I fast-forwarded and found a part we hadn't seen. Then there was another commercial, and it replayed the same part from the beginning again - but the timeline said it was about 2/3 of the way through as I'd expect. We gave up.
We then put the next episode on in the same series, and it asked me to log into the ITVX app. I did so, and we now had a different interface. And it worked fine. It seems it doesn't use an app for some episodes, and some it launches an app. This was the very next show in the series.
What the heck is wrong with this thing? Restarting doesn't help. It's been restarted several times over the last few days.
Also, on any show where I try to reverse or fast forward, it usually appears like it's doing it, but when I hit play it jumps back to the spot in the timeline where I first hit forward or back. It only seems to work if I leave it go for some distance before trying to play it. It's simply reluctant to move ahead or back for short periods.
I already wrote another thread yesterday about half of a golf game missing. It seems like whatever we try to do, the device doesn't do what it should.
If I watch a programme on BBC, it always seems to think I have been watching the latest episode, and offers to continue that one, where once it brings me into the iPlayer app, I see where I really was. And I'm pretty sure sometimes it uses the app, and sometimes it seems to play the show directly. It's confusing, as it isn't consistent - similar to the Lingo issue above.
I'm ready to throw it against the wall. I'm not sure I've ever seen a piece of technology with so many bugs. I'm a geek, and can usually handle some bugs. I'm often running betas on my phone or tablet, and reporting bugs - these betas are rarely as bad as trying to use this TV box however.
Am I alone with these issues? I haven't seen any similar posts about repeating segments.
