Is there a way one can stop the controller going on stand by after 30 minutes. It's very frustrating if you watching a film etc and you have an annoying message coming up on the stream asking you to pick up the controller to wake it up. It's rather irritating and annoying and really no need for it, as it disrupts one's concentration

It's not the controller it's the puck and sky's eco settings.
See: https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-glass-tv-turning-on-off-glance-motion-technology
Auto-standby mode
If there’s no movement detected for 1 hour, an on-screen message will show for about 5 seconds and then your Sky Glass TV will go into standby mode. To keep watching TV, press the Home button on your Sky remote or use voice control.
Unfortunately Sky implemented this non Glass and Pucks to meet EU law and their commitments to the environment and it can't be disabled.
It should not be every half hour tho, might be worth powering your puck of at the mains for a few minutes.

'Glance motion' is specific to Glass, though, and uses sensors which aren't in a Stream puck.
Having to shake the remote just before the end of an hour-long episode of something is particularly annoying.
