Refund for bricked Sky Pucks i purchased

I recently cancelled my Sky subscription, which I accessed through Sky Stream pucks. When I first signed up, I had to purchase the pucks and currently have four of them.

At the time of cancelling, I was informed that I would still be able to use the pucks to stream UK terrestrial TV services. Unfortunately, this appears not to be the case. As far as I can tell, the devices are now unusable without an active subscription.

Unless I am missing something, this means the pucks I purchased have effectively been rendered useless.

Could you please advise whether there is a way to access terrestrial channels without a subscription, or alternatively how I can request a refund for the pucks?

@Chewoot  You won't get a "Refund" on your pucks, you can't get Terrestrial TV on the Pucks, thats what your TV is for.  You should be able to get the base subscription to use the pucks, but if not they are useless.

As you own the pucks (any prior to Feb 2023 ar customer owned, any ofer are loamed and need to be returned) Sky won;t give a refind for them.

I agree thats what a TV is for if you have an aerial and dont want to use individual apps. If you dont your screwed. Only Sky could charge you for a product that you cant use if your dont have a subscription!

You have it actually purchased your puck they are only on loan while you have Sky steam, though make charge for each puck it only adminstive charge and non refundable. If you cancelled your service as I said they are only on loan to you  and Sky will won't them  back. They  should be getting touch with you telling you how to return them and probably send you some packing material to do so. If you do not return them Sky will make a charge, but they will still not be yours Sky still expect you to return them.

Sorry I missed a word out. The first sentence should read " You have not actually purchased

If they signed up to Stream before February 2023 then they would have purchased the pucks. Sky initially sold the pucks between October 2022 and February 2023. During the soft launch of Sky Stream as a standalone product they were sold for as little as £20 each. The pucks were the property of the purchaser, not Sky. On the MySky app it would show that the puck was 'customer owned' until Sky changed to the loan model.

If the pucks are customer owned then you are free to do with them as you wish. You can sell them on eBay quite legitimately. You'll probably easily make your money back, and probably even end up in profit.

Re: Refund for bricked Sky Pucks i purchased

Absolutely correct, I paid £20 for the first unit and £49.99 for the others in 2022 when they were launched

@Chewoot

If you do decide to sell them, it would really help to clearly label them as first acquired before 23rd February 2023 because that's the cut-off date for user-owned pucks.
