Recording on Sky Stream

I am looking at getting TV again. I was a sky customer from 2019-2024 but left due to price.

Now I am looking at getting TV again. Most of the other companies are only TV & Broadband but I am already locked into Sky fibre until 2027.

I had Sky Q for the whole time. Now that is not an option. I don't want a TV so Sky Glass is out.

The only option left is Sky Stream. However, I need more information about recording. Mainly live TV. My family are big fans of recording love shows then starting then 20/30 minutes later so we can fast forward through the adverts.

I don't understand what this playlist is. As it just says it will add all available shows from the same series. I want to watch the likes of "I'm a Celeb" but start it 20 minutes later so we can skip through the adverts.

Q is still a live product: it's just not on the front page of the Sky website any more because Comcast prefer to promote their own Glass & Stream rather than the legacy platform they inherited.

We suspect Q will stop being available to new customers sometime in the next couple of years, prior to television broadcasting from orbit to the UK and RoI ceasing around the turn of the decade when the current satellites exhaust their positioning propellant.

It's a slightly cludgy combination of pseudo cloud 'recording', app bookmarks, next episode, and Series Link

Unfortunately for a genuine live broadcast that's not absolutely guaranteed.

Re: Recording on Sky Stream

Sky Stream does not have a record option. You see a show you want to watch on demand and not live. Add it to your playlist. The show is actually saved on Sky's cloud storage. So when you want to watch it go to your playlist and watch it. You can fast forward/rewind.

In reality I have found it a bit hit or miss. I put my footy on the playlist and fast forwarded to the point I wanted to watch it. When it said I had caught up with the event live it was still 9 minutes behind.

Sky Q is available you need to look for it on the website.

Re: Recording on Sky Stream

Thanks for the reply.

When I follow that link it says Sky Q for £32 but when I click managed my TV (I don't have TV through sky anymore at all) it takes me to the sky glass page and there's no option to add Sky Q.

That's a shame about the live recording as that was the main feature I miss about Sky. Currently I have Freeview and the subscription services but even they are now hit and miss for "starting from beginning" on live shows. Sky was great. Record it, start watching it after 20 mins and you could fast forward through the ads.

You need to fully clear any Sky cookies from your browser or use a different web browser or an incognito Chrome browser window to get that link to offer Sky Q. It's definitely still available to order - I just tried it via that link and you can build a Q package and set an installation date.

Just make sure too that you're not logged in with an old SkyID.

Re: Recording on Sky Stream

Ok I will give that a try. Does it matter that I still have sky mobile and broadband though?
