Randomly shuts off and remote will turn it on. Always have to unplug it and plug it back in to start

Skystream Max randomly shuts off while idle. Remote is not able to turn it back on. Only way to turn on is to unplug it and plug it back in to power it up. Tried Factory reset but issue still exists.

@Anonymous due to power saving regulations Stream pucks will go to standby if left idele for more than a few minutes. It is possible your puck is faulty but more likely it is slow to start first point is use the home button to start the unit if in standby. If that doesnt work see this answer post on how to solve the issue of remotes not starting pucks.

Yes, please as I have had this for 4 years. I don't know the life span of these SkyStream Max units so not sure if it just needs to be replaced..

When I go to work or go to bed, I leave it on. Am I supposed to turn it off when I am not using it? It is very random and when I unplug it and power it back on, it works again.

@Anonymous Before I escalate your post I'm wondering if your issue is similar to one I had with my Glass TV when I first got it.  I resolved the issue by changing the settings.

Go into Settings > Start up & Standby and make sure the Networked standby mode is turned ON and overnight power saving is OFF.  If they already have these settings your issue is different to the one I had if not then change them and see if it helps.

The networked standby mode stops the puck losing the network connection when it goes into standby.

In answer to your other query, I now have a stream puck and never physically turn it off.  It will automatically go into standby shortly after turning off the TV.  If I go out leaving the TV on it will again automatically go into standby after a few. hours of inactivity.  To wake it from standby and turn the TV on I simply press the home button on the remote (the power button also does this).

The OP says he has had Skystream Max for 4 years.  I would suggest that he is talking about the Skystream max android box and is accidentally posting on the wrong forum.

Given the Stream Pucks were launched in November 2021 when supplied with Glass TVs and were only launched under the Stream name in late 2022 are you talking about some other Sky box? Sky Wifi Max was launched last summer so its not that. But could it be a Sky Q mini box which extends Sky Q satellite TV service?

Just seen @PSC133's post and suspect he is right Sky Stream Max not being a Sky UK product.
