Re: QS036 update

Hi

I've come back home after being away. All my Sky Stream Boxes are still on, QS036.021.00P. Is there a way a can force the new update through?

Thanks in Advance

No. It'll be pushed to your pucks automatically at some point. You can't jump the queue.

Updates can't be forced. Sky roll updates out in batches so when your devices are added to the rollout of any software update the devices will automatically update.

Re: QS036 update

@Barry+Mc+Kelvey   I am on the same update as you, and have been for some time.  I am not sure the process for who gets them and when but following details on this forum I am always among the last to get them, which can be very frightening when you need a fix of some kind.  Anyway I check most days so hopefully soon.

Re: QS036 update

Hi

I know that when I was previously on Sky Q, the updates were random. Sometimes I'd be among the first batch, other times I was among the last to get updates.

Hopefully it won't be too long before we get the latest update.

Re: QS036 update

Hi

Just out of curiosity. When updates are released/rolled out, is there a particular day when this happens? Or is it a random day each time? I know they don't get rolled out on weekends.

Thanks in Advance

Hi

there is no information on release dates versions etc. you also need to factor in the UI number

Re: QS036 update

@Barry+Mc+Kelvey   As far as I can tell the release is random and differs depending on where you are on the list to get the update because we don't all get it at the same time.

Hi

Why do you need to factor in the UI Number? That's the first time that I've heard this.

Re: QS036 update

I've been told by sky that hard resetting the sky glass does force the update but I'm not sure if they have the same feature on the sky stream boxes. Maybe call sky and see if they can help.

That's incorrect- the device will only get the update when the batch it's in received the update

That as mentioned above is not the case.

You cannot force a software update via any method on Sky Glass or Sky Stream.

You will only be offered what is currently available via a monthly or so push out of software updates to customers.

Also, it is mentioned by Sky to not do a 'factory reset' under Sky Glass and Sky Stream settings, unless Sky themselves have asked you to and also to only action while on a call or chat with Sky.

A factory reset can cause account issues problems.

Re: QS036 update

You are incorrect mate. I was told this by sky glass team when I had issues, to which they have instructed me to do at least 3 times. It even states it on google.

"A hard reset on Sky Glass, also known as a factory reset, can force a software update and resolve some issues. This process essentially resets the TV to its default settings and can help with problems like being stuck on the "Checking your status" screen or other software glitches. The reset involves powering off the TV, holding down the standby button while powering it back on, and waiting for the LED lights to flash."

FYI the first result/response retuned by Google is from Gogle's AI and is prone to be inaccurate as it will display a response based on scrapping data from the first couple of web sites listed ( and is very rarely 100% accurate).

All a reset wil do is force whatever software version has been assigned to be redownloaded it cannot force a device to upgrade to the latest software as that isn't how Sky's software update mechanism is done/controlled.

As you will see from this forum it's not unusual for customers to be told incorrect/inaccurate information by advisors over the phone.
