Purchase sky as a new customer

I have had to leave Sky after a number of years as the pricing was getting ridiculous, i am moving home on the 1st of May so want to take out the sky stream with fibre 900 broad band. Speaking to the call centre which is horrendous to deal with btw, they have advised i cannot do this until my existing broad band runs out on the 1st and have to call them back on Tuesday. If they would have let me down grade and do this in the first place i wouldnt be going through this issue, does anyone know if this should be possible to do or not or if i can set up my existing account to swap over to this which would be alot eaiser.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Hi @sladeford 

You will need to clarify you post a little for the community to assist. You are not classed as a new customer unless you have left sky for 12 months.

I take it you are cancelling your existing provider and wanting to set sky up as a new provider in your new home? What existing account? If you have left sky?

You don't need sky broadband to have sky stream.

Neither a change of address or a different broadband technology makes it a new customer account.

Thanks for your response, so the deal i can get on the sky stream is £51 for example if i am a "new customer" but they cannot offer that to me as an existing SKY Q customer,  so thought if i left Sky in my current property as i am out of contract and reset that back up as a new customer for when i move to my new property I would be able to get this. I wasn't aware that you are not a new customer for at least 12 months.

It seems illogical that Sky would want to drive customers away and not want to retain them based on prices that new customers can get over existing. But trying to get that point across with the call centre is like banging your head on a wall.

So do i have no option but to go else where for broad band then for the rest of the house hold and get Sky stream as a seperate thing, i  was just trying to keep all in the same place.
