Hi @Steve946 although it is referred to as a setup charge I imagine it is to cover various costs such as manufacture, power supply, HDMI cable, postage and packaging etc.

It covers the cost of the puck itself, postage and the warranty. It's sort of like a rental fee. If it goes wrong Sky will replace it for however long you remain subscribed.

Re: Puck setup charge
That is not a setup charge.
All pucks are self install.
It is a one off fee charge.
Often with some initial Sky Stream Puck order offers, you may with certain discounts get your first puck for free.
All subsequent Pucks you order will incur the one off charge.
Sky Stream with two pucks (former Sky Q and Sky+ customer).
Sky Ultrafast + using Sky SR203 hub. Sky Mobile unlimited data. Sky Protect smart tech kit tester.

Semantics. Sky insist on calling it a 'setup fee' during the ordering process.
