Puck always goes to ‘please wait’

Every time I take my sky stream box off standby I get the 'please wait' blue screen - and I have to reboot to get it to work - is this a common problem - what's the solution - new puck - only had it a few weeks

Have you got Network Standby turned on or off in the network settings? What speed is your broadband?

I'd recommended turning Networked Standby Mode to ON and Overnight Powersaving Mode to OFF and see if that helps.

Also, when you do see this issue, does it go away if you press the home button when you see the "please wait" message?

Re: Puck always goes to ‘please wait’

Thanks Mark - I'll try that - yes - it does go away when I restart it - would an Ethernet connection help?

Potentially, i think if the settings mentioned above not help, then yes its worth trying the ethernet.

If trying via ethernet, you need to ensure you disable the Wifi in the puck's settings, otherwise you may find the puck switches between ethernet and Wifi which can certainly cause a whole host of other problems 🙂

Usually nothing will change if you do wait.

I've recall initially seeing that message on my first week of Sky Stream. Thats when i found the "home" button normally woke up the network connection and then got it to actually load the homepage. I actually also changed the settings i mentioned above and switched from Wifi to ethernet, so i don't know exactly which one of these things resolved the particular issue.

My thought would be the settings, unless you are seeing picture freezing or buffering issues on other things, i wold indicate your Wifi connection is likely strong enough and its just the settings on the puck that need tweaking a bit.

Did you ever wait longer than 1 or 2 mins?

Re: Puck always goes to ‘please wait’

My Sky Stream sometimes does this. Pressing the Home button loads the main menu however and it works okay from there on.

Re: Puck always goes to ‘please wait’

I'm new to Sky puck (received 28/05/2025) but seem to have the same problem as discussed here. It is connected by Ethernet with good connection speed. Network standby mode is on and overnight power saving off. Each first start of the day I get a blue screen and 'please wait' message. A remote power cycle cures this. Has anyone found a 'real' cure for this?

Re: Puck always goes to ‘please wait’

@Iany Have you got the Wi-Fi turned off on the puck?

If that doesn't work then maybe a reset starting the puck with the reset button underneath pressed for a few seconds.  This should reinstall the software so you will have to sign in to your apps again.

Try this.

Go back into settings and toggle the standby and network buttons off/on and on/off respectively.

Then, do a settings restart.;

Go to Settings>Systems Management>Resets & Updates
Select Restart device
Your Sky Stream puck or Sky Glass TV will perform a reboot. It will take a few minutes to complete.

Sometimes we have seen the settings options do not set correctly, even though they show as your deemed on or off state.

An immediate restart should ensure that.

Just to clarify;
Change to the following recommended settings set in Settings>
Turn wifi OFF under Network if connected via ethernet.
Set Network standby mode to ON and Overnight power saving to OFF.
