Playlist, ads and ad skip

I was looking into moving from Sky Q to Sky Stream but I think I've come across something that would drive me around the twist and I wanted to confirm it is the case.

If I "record" something using the playlist feature, for example an F1 race or Prem Football match, when I watch it back later, does Sky add unskippable ads to it? And if I fast forward or rewind it, it will then play another set of ads immediately after I press play again?

Then, if I pay the extra £6 a month for the ad skipping feature, these ads still appear but I can skip them but the ad skip feature doesn't always work correctly and might only skip some or part of the ads?

Can someone confirm if this is correct?

Thanks.

Re: Playlist, ads and ad skip

If you playlist any sports content, bar tennis I believe (rights issue). Then you will get a cloud recording of that content, (no extra unskippable ads), so providing you have included ad skipping in your sub, you can f/w through the ad breaks as you would with Q.

@da644 You are correct though that sometimes the ad skipping feature doesn't work properly. I've had shows where I've skipped the ads and it's skipped the rest of an episode and gone onto a new one.

It hasn't happened often but it does happen. (I'm on Glass not Stream but have seen posts from Stream users who've had the same issue).

Thanks for your reply, but if the ads are just part of the recording, can I not just skip them like I do on Q by fast forwarding or, as I do more often, using the voice function and asking it to "skip 4 minutes" without having to paid the extra for the ad skipping feature?

No! You need the ad skip function. You will probably be offered it for free for 2 months, then you can cancel in the 2nd month, and the day after cancellation you will probably be offered another 2 months, so on and so forth. It's entirely up to you.
