PROBLEM AT DL3?

TV picture froze at 8:30pm tonight. Couldn't get any coverage back yet checks showed broadband speed good. VERY FRUSTRATING! Is there a wider problem?

If there was a major outage the community would be flooded with posts.

 

Have you restarted both you device and router? What speed are you getting in a netflix speed test? (Profile pic > get help? > Connectivity check). 

 

The issue could be contention.

Yes, there's major engineering works going on with television transmitters across the country which is not only affecting freeview but also sky television channels, my issue is with more 4 channel both on sky and freeview where the screen freezes or the screen goes black, I haven't checked other channels yet but I would assume it's happening to them too, I checked this out on Gemini app.

@Josephsargent Freeview transmitter work would not affect Sky Stream which gets it's channels delivered over Broadband so is not relevant to the OPs issue.

 

 

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

Contention? Is that where there are competing demands on the same network? I was home alone last night and have been for a couple of days. In any event the maximum usage at any one time might be two mobile phone, two laptops and a Smart TV. Neither of us are gamers and all usage is very basic.

 

I restarted the puck but not the router. I didn't do a Netflix check(never done one of those before) but checked broadband speed via the SKY App - it showed a speed of 909Mb/s.

 

I am going to see how things go but if the same happens again I will bare in mind your suggestion.

Hi @Simon92 

 

Not necessarily contention in your household but could be at the exchange or back haul in your area. The speed check on the sky app isna notial speed from the router to their network but the netflix one will show you your the spled your getting as a client device. This can help pinpoint issues as sky have minimum speed requirements.
