Re: Not remembering where I left off

This is now happening to us, only on Sky programmes ( currently series 2 of House of Dragons). Doesn't save where we watched until, very annoying 🙄

@Quaidy I fully agree it is really annoying.  I have been on the streaming platform for 2 years and it has always been the same.  I find the progress bars then to stay in place for  7 - 10 days.  I have just been away for a week and all my progress bars have disappeared.

If you have not got up to date with a series and still have episodes to watch when you select the series in your playlist the continue button should will usually have remembered which episode to watch next.  If you were up to date it will unfortunately have reverted back to S1:E1.

I have now got into the habit of leaving at least one unwatched programme of a series.

@Pgm72 @Dazzasky I've just signed up and started and have this issue. Had it on NOW TV too but not as bad as SKy Stream. Sky really need to fix this as it's highly annoying. I shouldn't have to be jotting down my watch history. It really can't be that hard to make a local sqlite DB on the puck. I'm a dev and use small local DBs a lot and very simple to implement. Tying it into the interface might be a bit more taxing but nothing major from my experience.

The platform is intended for up to nine client devices (three Glass television sets and six Stream pucks) on a single account, all with access to viewing progress: local databases aren't appropriate.

Even cloud side isn't a huge stretch. Every other platform seems to manage it just fine.

That would be why it's a server-side function. I'd suggest no other platform is carrying the same breadth of content, including the slight complication of having a huge number of individual suppliers all responsible for submitting their own channel metadata correctly.

Re: Not remembering where I left off

Good point. I'm pretty sure Sky have the clout to ask for this metadata as they've been in this game for decades.

I work on a system that takes different data from a variety of manufacturers where we use an abstraction layer to create a common data format with specific manufacturer translation layers feeding into and out of it.

I guess it all comes down to will and budget. Really good developers are hard to come by too and often come with a hefty price tag.

If they could do this for at least their own content, that would be a start. It doesn't even always remember where I am on The Lazurus Project and Now TV pretty much always did.

I guess I'll live with it.
