Initially the original stream remote didn't light up so I insterted brand new batteries as advised. I twisted it as also advised (like gently wring out a cloth) and this ssemed to fix the problem - for 2 weeks.
Batteries checked again but remote failed to respond.
Replacement arrived with same problem (no backlights) and no connection.
Does something happen when the (paper) tag is forcibly removed? Is this just a poor batch?
The so-called Sky store in Curry's, Crawley, have no ability to help (!) but gave me Sky's number which resulted in the usual "go to the website" instruction......

All sorted! Puck had slipped from bracket behind TV......

@Roger99 Occasionally the paper insulating strip tears rather than pulls out cleanly. Have you tried removing the back of the remote to check that there's no paper left between the batteries and the connections inside the remote?

Thanks for the prompt response Mark but alas, even after I followed all the guidelines (the battery contact points were clear) no backlights in either controller.

I thought my back light wasn't working as well but I found out the remote has to be in a dark room (very dark) for the back light to turn on.
