New Sky Stream user - Questions

Hi Sky Community,

We took delivery of Sky Stream yesterday evening after being forced into getting rid of Sky Q (next door neighbour's tree in our line of sight and they refuse to cut it down,  Sky engineer said he couldn't move the dish or realign it).

We also added UHD to our subcription, so I could watch F1 in glorious UHD!

My first question is why don't I have the option of choosing 10-bit or 8-bit under picture settings for UHD? We have a Sony OLED tv brand new from last year, so I assume the tv isn't the issue? We used the HDMI cable provided from Sky (pink), do I need to buy a 2.1 cable?

My second question is why isn't F1 playlisted content avaible in UHD and only HD?

@andrewdk88

Unfortunately there are quite a few errors on Sky's help pages which have been there for a while and haven't been corrected.

Make sure you have your Stream puck attached to an HDMI port on your TV which is set to enhanced or for HDR. It should then automatically detect that the TV is capable of passing a full UHD HDR signal.

F1 content should be available in UHD as long as you added it to your playlist from the UHD live channel on the EPG. The playlist can be somewhat temperamental though.

@andrewdk88  10 bit & 8 bit are automatically detected by the stream puck so there is no need for an option.  You need to remeber Sky Q has been around since 2016, stream/Glass since October 2021

Re: New Sky Stream user - Questions

@GD1 Thanks for the info.  Sky Help pages need updating in that case,  as the instructions state to select 10-bit or 8-bit.

Re: New Sky Stream user - Questions

Thanks @Padam_Padam , I have added the F1 from the UHD channel, so will find out later today when I get home from work.  As per the HDR instructions, I think I have everything set up correctly.
