Re: My5 App: Freezing

Just another voice here. Getting the same thing here with 5, it freezes after skipping the adverts. A quick rewind-stop-play process seems to fix it each time, but its certainly not an ideal condition.

It does seem to have got worse over the last week or two, it sometimes worked OK if I used a slower FF speed, but over the last week or so, it's now every time.

They need to look at Channel 4 to see how its done, that works fine.

Re: My5 App: Freezing

Hi,

It seems this issue is now my issue - the "Blindspot" that I'm watching is absolutely terrible. Skips, stutters, and buffers in each episode.

Please can we get some help.

Thanks

Re: My5 App: Freezing

Yeah, it's not good still here.

I have found a kind of workaround though. If you can be quick enough with the remote, FF 6x or 12x, then hit the centre button before it hits the end of the ads, around the section of the promo part is ideal, it then plays normally - although similar to what you see, I get a bit of buffering and stuttering for a few seconds after the ad break, but it clears and then play OK until the next ad break.

Re: My5 App: Freezing

Another voice on the same subject of 5 hanging after adverts. This thread has been running for 6 months now and the issue is still unresolved. I have wasted god knows how long restarting router, puck, apps checking bandwidth, updates, changing cables all to no avail. SKY....instead of coming on this thread patronising paying customers with pointless statements like "its being marked" DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!!!!

Re: My5 App: Freezing

It looks like it's changed recently, at least on ours here. The rapid skip no longer comes up. Instead the stream continues playing, and it's now only possible to fast forward through the adverts. Not as convenient, but at least it does work.

Re: My5 App: Freezing

Thanks Wildroverandy fast forwarding through adverts has worked so far for me. I'm now watching the movie I started watching and gave up on. Like you say "not ideal" however it's a workaround and better than anything SKY came up with so thanks again.

Re: My5 App: Freezing

Is annoying is the worst app ever to use you would think would be sorted by now as totally unusable

Re: My5 App: Freezing

Looks like they've acknowledged the fault at last. It seems they've disabled the 'skip' function (no markers showing), and I can only FF through the adverts now, with the show appearing as a continuous stream.

It is at least reliable.

Re: My5 App: Freezing

I'll add my voice to this too.

Isse isn't related yet not to wifi users. I have 900Mbs internet hard-wired to my sky puck and have exactly the same issue. Sky Stream really isn't that good,I should hav stuck with Q at least I could record a program and watch it later 😡😡

Re: My5 App: Freezing

Totally agree with you. The 5 app is not fit for purpose and the Sky Puck is only barely up to the task. Sky's response is always reset router, puck, update app, clear cache, turn off other items but I suppose turning that response out to paying customers is cheaper than fixing the issue.

We also miss Sky Q

Re: My5 App: Freezing

Being a relatively new customer (well, about third time round after a few years away), Q wasn't an option now. I'm not having all the issues, and I don't think all of it is down to Sky, it works just well enough to make it a reasonable value package, but only because of the price deals. Without them, I would have probably cancelled quite quickly.

I often switch back to the Apple TV for some stuff, like Apple programming (I have One Premium for that) and the other ad free streams I have, such BBC, and Prime (which I pay for ad free because the fee is actually reasonable). YouView was possibly still much smoother experience for main channels recordings, and much more consistent for skipping.

Series and episode linking is generally terrible across all channels too, I have a habit now of manually selecting the next episodes to get the correct one.

Re: My5 App: Freezing

ITV X is one of rhe most shockingly poor apps. Don't try to watch News at 10 consistently 🤦

Re: My5 App: Freezing

I've resolved the issue by not streaming any Channel 5 content and this hasn't had a negative impact on my life. This is a better resolution than the Sky employee's 'answer' to this six month old query so should I mark my reply as an 'answer'? 😂

Re: My5 App: Freezing

Good one.

It seems to have been a little better lately. I think it looks like they're actually working on it now. I have actually managed to run an ad break skip successfully recently.
