My Sky stream puc keeps freezing and crashing

I recently moved over to Sky from Virgin.

Unfortunately the Sky stream puc keeps crashing and freezing and the only way to get back to sky is to switch everythiong off at the mains and restart everthing. I was not happy only having a copper connection which is waht sky offrered from a broadband point of view so my broadband is being hosted with another company who provide a fibre connection.  The only issue with this is that the modem that the other company supplied does not have enough ports so I have had to use a splitter.  What would you suggest to rectify my problem?

Assume your mention of a splitter, you mean you are using Ethernet with an unmanaged switch.

If yiu have not down so already, change your puck to the following recommended settings set in the Puck Settings menu>
Turn wifi OFF under Network if connected via ethernet.
Set Network standby mode to ON and Overnight power saving to OFF.

Hi @lettice thank you for your response.  By a splitter I mean a box where multiple ethernet cabples can be plugged in to as my modem only has one thernet port.  Does that change your response?

No, my response is the same for the settings changes, whenever using an ethernet connection for the Puck.

But if you have a low end ethernet splitter, I would ask you to go and buy  an unmanaged network switch instead.

The older type or low end Splitters can knock down the speed of an ethernet connection, cat 5e as it would be if using the Sky Stream cable. Could be the cause of your issues.

There are some newer splitters that supposedly handle a faster throughout, but in my view may still be a poor choice, compared to an unmanaged switch.

Id recommend something like the TP-Link TL-SG1005D

Ive tested this one with my pucks, when I do testing on ethernet (as I normally use a wifi connection for my pucks) and it works very well.

Its normally around £12-20 on Amazon and elsewhere

Thank you @lettice that's kind of you to follow up.  I'll look in to that and see if it helps.
