Is there a next generation puck?
We swapped from Sky Q to Stream, purely to reduce costs, over a year ago. We expected it would take a bit of time to get use to, but it is just so clunky. We have 800-900 Mbs broadband, so there should be no speed issues. The puck regularly freezes meaning I have to unplug it and start again. Switching for example between a sky channel and BBC or Other stream often gives me time to make a cup of tea, often having to 'sign in' to the new channel, it really has been a big big and frustrating step backwards. So, to my question, before I scrap it all and find another way, does Sky have any plans to produce a streaming device for TV that doesn't feel like it's come out of the Stone Age? Are there any better ways currently available?

Re: Is there a next generation puck?
@MarkTut Not exactly Next Generation the later model had a different power supply and internal chip, but still operates as well or not (depending on who you speak to) as the original version.
Sky don't publish any advance details on whether there will be another version.

Sky do not release information about future plans so nobody has a clue what may or may not come in the future.
SkyOS is getting an upgrade, soon to start beta testing, but hardware wise, it's impossible to tell.

Re: Is there a next generation puck?
There has been one revision since release in late 2021: this has a different power supply plug (and likely unspecified internal changes to reflect current component availability: the original Puck was built using silicon still sourceable during the pandemic)
Only Comcast will know about future hardware plans, and they are probably a bit preoccupied with spinning off Sky Group / NBCU
BT Halo 3+ Ultrafast FTTP (500Mbs), BT Smart Hub 2

Re: Is there a next generation puck?
@MarkTut I feel they need to do something to improve the user experience. They seem to be asking their hardware to do more and more by continuing to release new features. Unfortunately every update seems to introduce new bugs without fixing what must be a fundamental problem. This unreliability will be the fundamental reason I shall be not renewing my contract.
OS 1.3
Build QS040.052.00P
UI 3.291.1
Platform 8.4p40s1
Hardware IP061-ef
TV Sony A95K
AV Sony HT-A9
Broadband Hyperoptic FTTP 1.0Gbps
Ethernet to Sky Stream

Re: Is there a next generation puck?
Thanks for all the advice. Maybe I need to find another way, or just learn to be a little more patient, which doesn't come easy at my age. Hopefully, there are enough disgruntled Sky customers who've made this change, to nudge Sky into finding a better solution.
