Is it the right time to switch from SkyQ to Sky Stream?

As a SkyQ subscriber from almost its inception I have been monitoring the Stream discussions more or less since they started.  Until relatively recently I have come to the conclusion that I will stick with SkyQ for the time being due to the continuing problems Stream customers where having.   However recently there seems to be a growing majority who are now delighted with it so I am reconsidering moving from SkyQ to Sky Stream.

I am aware that whether you read the SkyQ forum or the Stream forum there are always customers having isolated problems, but can anyone outline if there are now any problems that are general to all Stream customers that are still awaiting a software updates please?

@Stephen+Mourton

It's impossible to say for certain. There are so many variables when it comes to Sky Stream that the only way to find out if it will work for you is to try it.

It works brilliantly for some and not so good for others. This can be down to individual variances in the hardware quality (puck and/or remote) or individual variances in broadband network suitability (ISP/speed/quality of connection etc.)

There are also variables in how customers use the service and what they are expecting from it. Many people who don't use the playlist or continue watching rail will find that Sky Stream can work brilliantly. Others who want to keep track of what they have playslisted and where they are in a series (similar to how they would if used to recording on Sky Q) can find it constantly infuriating. (I do.)

Many previous Q customers who were used to recording something and skipping quickly through the ads on that recording can find the 'Ad-skipping' pack on Sky Stream to be pretty woeful in comparison. (I do.) Slow, glitchy and not worth paying extra for is a common theme.

Software updates will continue with Sky Stream but can only go so far in improving the service overall. The pucks are functional but could be improved. Some find them slow (the apps are certainly a lot slower on a puck than they are on my TV for example) others find them perfectly fine.

All you can do is give Sky Stream a go. If it works for you, great. If it doesn't, just revert back to Q.

Another question that increasingly requires an answer... why do you want Sky Q or Sky Stream... what functionality in either do you demand and willing to pay extra for?
