Re: Incorrect ad insertion when watching catch up
Interesting. Has anyone else had ads on Sky programmes when watching in UHD?

Re: Incorrect ad insertion when watching catch up
I now have a case reference number. Will update if there's a resolution.

Any update, @baboons2014? I'm getting misplaced ads in True Detective s4 episodes still. Watching in HD btw

Re: Incorrect ad insertion when watching catch up
Same - I emailed again last night. So annoying. Half way through a really emotive scene, suddenly an inappropriately placed ad.

Call back from Sky, they have found that it's a broadcast issue and are going to resolve it. No good for me, as I've finished the series, but hopefully it will solve it for other people and hopefully make sure it doesn't happen in other programmes.

Re: Incorrect ad insertion when watching catch up
This is still an issue unfortunately, it's done it on every episode up to episode 5 for me so far.
Pretty poor from Sky considering this is one of their flagship shows.

Re: Incorrect ad insertion when watching catch up
If I were to make a reasoned guess as to why this is happening, it could be that HBO themselves have decided on the timing and placement of ads for international territories.
They may have provided timecode metadata for AdSmart to trigger the ads on the UK version, but they perhaps created this metadata from a US version of the show which runs at 24fps, not the sped up 25fps version we get in the UK.
If this is the case then the timecodes would not match correctly as there is a discrepency in running times between the two versions.

Re: Incorrect ad insertion when watching catch up
Mate perfect sense. It's almost certainly something like that. Totally understandable sitting like this could happen.
It's not acceptable that it hasn't been resolved.

Re: Incorrect ad insertion when watching catch up
This is an interesting theory! Though would still leave the mystery of why there are ad bumpers at the 'correct' (as correct as they can get for content that is intended to play uncut) segmentation points. Unless they're using two sets of segmentation data, which would be a wild decision.

This is Sky so anything is possible!
