@Nigelb1972 Absolutely spot on, ATMOS is an object based codec with DD+ at it's core. The best audio I've had from a streaming device is Apple TV on an Apple TV 4K box. It uses Dolby MAT 2.0 and the audio is superb compared to Sky, Netflix etc.

@CoffeeDrinker I'm a bit mutton in one ear so surround sound at home is pretty lost on me and lossy Atmos via DD+ is more than good enough for everyday viewing. But I'm like yourself I'd imagine and for my favourite films, I'll buy the UHD Blu-ray for the noticeable step up in picture and sound quality...

@CoffeeDrinker I use M&K speakers and Denon too, those M&K's are superb and had them for years, wouldn't change them, love them.

@Floydianslip Netflix run the heaviest compression out of everyone. You ain't getting lossless on Netflix with any codec. Their UHD quality is barely better than HD Blu-ray.

Ooh! Which M&Ks are you using? Bought the M&K K series (3x K7 front, 2 x K4 rears, K9 sub + Onkyo upfinring atop the L&R fronts for the .2 channels). Had them since 2001 and whilst AVRs have come and gone over the years I've never felt the need to upgrade the M&Ks. Was originally hoping to buy the M&K 750 THX's at the time but the budget wouldn't stretch then. Not felt shortchanged by the K Series though - they've been worth worth every penny (and they were quite a few pennies!) I paid for them.

Sky Glass & Stream Puck customer w/Sky Entertainments & Netflix, Sky Cinema, Whole Home & UHD/Dolby Atmos add-on.

@CoffeeDrinker

I have the M&K 750 THX's purchased a good few years back and they've served me well. The only thing I've added to them is 2x KEF R50 upfiring ATMOS speakers. The room I use for TV isn't a big room but the audio quality is superb.

I really don't have any reason or inclination yo upgrade the system at all and it should last me for years to come, oh and those M&K subs really kick a%&e.

For me it's less about copism and more about holding sky accountable to giving me the product I paid a premium for.

I have had a very positive experience with NowTV via AppleTV 4k but I do miss the interface and convenience of Sky.
