Why is fast fast forwarding and rewinding on Sky Stream so bad? It was fine on Sky + I don't know why they changed it
Sorry if this has been brought up before which I imagine it has because I honestly don't know how anyone thinks it's good now!
Am I doing something wrong or is it just really bad now?

@MikeyB2 there is a fundamental difference between Stream and the older Sky+HD and Sky Q. On the satellite system you were controlling a hard disc in the box with Stream you are controlling a server over the internet connection . That server can be delivering literally hundreds of thousands of streams so is not as responsive. Although Sky Stream is one box it connects to many different service providers including of course Sky's own servers but ialso the BBC. ITV and other broadcasters and of course the operators of the multiple apps.
If you want to jump forward one tip is to use voice control and say something like "forward 5 minutes" which works on most channels but wont always work with apps. There are other tips like pressing fast forward repeatedly increasing the speed.

Re: Fast forwarding and rewind on sky stream is atrocious
It really could be much better though. If you look at BBC iPlayer for example, fast forwarding on there works so much better.

@rossc1989 each to their own but I find using voice to move forward and back works pretty well.

Re: Fast forwarding and rewind on sky stream is atrocious
Damn - never though of that....going to start annoying my wife immediately...
I found it generally help if you wait a short while before skipping, it give the stream some time to buffer and you don't end up at the head of the incoming stream.
Apps:
BBC - works realy well
Channel 4 - not bad, just hold the button down
ITV - the app the written by a seven year old as a school project - probably in BASIC - good luck
Discovery - badly impremented but gets you there
Looks like voice is the way to go - you can ship in 30 sec intervals - except on ITV where you can skip 20 minutes to get through a single add break 🙂

Should we just sit back and ignore the fact that Sky is providing a streaming service which doesn't work. Sky should Stick to Dishes.

Satellite dishes won't work very well once there aren't any television broadcast satellites they can point to.
