Everytime it rains. The sky tv streaming box stops working

I keep having multiple channels and tv apps not working when trying to watch tv. Usually when the weather is bad or in busy period like Friday evenings. Very frustrating but the service bot keeps saying everything is fine. I reboot the WiFi several times but still no difference and keeps happening

Hi @Ella991

That would suggest that your broadband is having issues. Try running a speed test in netflix when the weather isn't bad and make a note of the speed. Then do the same when the weather is bad.

You can do this by opening netflix > profile pic > get help? > Connectivity check.

It is likely that there is water ingress somewhere on your connection. The best course of action is to call sky on 150 when you have the information and they will need to arrange an open reach visit.

It could also be that your broadband is slow and not meeting the minimum requirements. Sky recommend 25Mbps for HD, 30Mbps for UHD and 35Mbps if you have more than one sky streaming device. Check the speed in netflix and what is your broadband speed?

Re: Everytime it rains. The sky tv streaming box stops working

As Sky stream works via the internet as opposed to satellite this would suggest to me that it's an issue with the internet. Copper broadband is more susceptible to these kind of issues as opposed to fibre which is much more reliable. I would suggest reporting this to Sky directly and see if you can have it looked into as a potential fault as there could be a loose connection or damaged cable that's letting water in.

Sky Ultimate TV with Sky Cinema on Sky Steam Puck with WI-FI
Sky Full Fibre 500mbps
