Down grade to Sky essentials
Hi . I am out of contract with Sky Steam with Sky Ireland. I have the Sky Ultimate package costing €59. I want to downgrade to Sky essential package but the customer advise tells me that is not possible for existing users and they will reduce the Sky Ultimate to €33 on a 2 year contract. That doesn't work for us. Is it true Sky Ireland doesn't allow you to down grade? . Thanks

Re: Down grade to Sky essentials
I believe that sky essentials is only available to new and not current customers.

Re: Down grade to Sky essentials
That seems to be the case. I do see people posting on here though that they moved to Sky essentials so I was wondering whether it was a fixed rule or something they conceded in retention discussions The customer adviser was adamant to me that rules are rules

Re: Down grade to Sky essentials
@Herlihy10 I believe that when sky essentials launched it was advertised as only being available to new customers, however, it's certainly worth giving customer services a call and seeing what the situation currently is, as things change. Can I ask why you want to downgrade ? Are you not watching the channels available on Sky Ultimate ?

Re: Down grade to Sky essentials
Unless the rule is different for Sky Ireland customers i'm pretty sure it should be possible to switch from Ultimate TV to Essentials TV when out of contract.

Re: Down grade to Sky essentials
I'm not convinced I need Sky anymore. It's a lot per month for something which I don't make full use of. We use just the basic broadcast channels most and Apple TV and Netflix. So we aren't interested in retaining Sky ultimate. Our thinking is that Essentials on a rolling one month basis was a sensible price at €18 euros and allowed simple access to the basic channels with the flexibility to jump out of using Sky if we decided that we didn't need the simplicity. Sky Ireland are adamant that's not an option so that's the decision made. We don't need Sky . It's a shame to some degree as we have had Sky since the 90s but the world has moved on.
