Cloud recording Sky Stream

I know Sky Stream isn't supposed to record. What I noticed the other night is when Britains Got Talent was on I clicked watch from the start and watched half of it. The rest of it was in my continue watching which I then finished the episode. I noticed in my continue watching this morning episode 2 was there so I thought it would direct me to ITV X but instead it's the live broadcast recorded. So does Sky Stream just pick and choose what it records?

It would seem so, yes... there's no rhyme nor reason to many things about Sky Stream.

We can vaguely assume that anything where you click on 'watch from the start' starts playing back from a temporary cloud recording (except BBC channels) of that live stream. Perhaps you doing this for the first part of BGT somehow triggered a tag for the second episode's cloud recording and it was somehow kept as a 'recording' for you to stream later.

Or perhaps there was a problem with the official ITVX stream of the second ep so Sky made the cloud recording available to all instead. There have been a lot of ITVX issues recently so this may be what's happened...

As a very general rule if you add a she to your playlist from the tv guide it does tend to cloud record ......

searching for a show and adding to your playlist or adding from one of the rails will always link back to the catchup app

Sky cannot have Stream cloud record where the broadcast channel either does not permit this (typically because it has its own app), or itself does not have VOD (Video on Demand) rights for that particular content to pass on to Sky.

Re: Cloud recording Sky Stream

I added a CNN program to a playlist. It worked for about a week then stopped. I deleted it from the playlist then added it again but it just doesn't recored at all now. Has anyone experiences someting similar or have an explanation why this might be happening?

Hi @jakeyj

Try sending an email to  viewerR@sky.uk with the details, tell them it previously cloud recorded.

Thanks,

Tim
