Can I Plug My Aerial Into The Stream Box?

Hi, I'm thinking about getting Sky Stream. I want to have a Freeview backup in case the internet goes down. Can I plug my aerial into the back of the box, or does it have to go into the TV?

Online I've seen people say that it doesn't work, but has anyone actually tried it? I don't have Stream at the moment, so I can't test it, but I would like to know before I buy it whether or not I can get Freeview through the Stream box.

Thanks.

The aerial connection does not work in the UK.

It is a requirement in Italy and does work there😉

As @Exiled-in-HH indicates, it's not intended to work (and incidentally it's not the Freeview EPG on board)

Some early adoptor Stream users who have ended their Sky subscription but kept a Sky account have posted that they've discovered the DTTV tuner is active under those circumstances.  This isn't relevant to any new users because they don't own their pucks.

It doesn't work but if you have an aerial then just connect it to your tv @Anonymous

Re: Can I Plug My Aerial Into The Stream Box?

In case anyone hasn't noticed yet, but there's now an aerial app that enables the aerial socket to be used on the Stream box.

I've plugged my aerial in to the Stream box as I've already moved the satellite feed to the TV (used to be plugged in to Q), so I can use Freesat as the backup to Stream, it's too fiddly to switch between DVB-T and S on the TV, so I just leave it on Freesat.

It's pretty unlikely I'll use it, but it's an option with 'least fiddling' if bad weather disrupts the satellite dish and my broadband, since my aerial is in the loft and can pick up 2 different transmitters at the same time, in different regions.

The app just shows the standard broadcast channels, not the streaming ones.

There is a bit of a bug, in that when it prompts for the primary region after a full channel scan (London or Kent, or Sussex - three different combinations here, one is BBC SE + ITV Meridian, BBC SE + ITV London or BBC London + ITV London), it doesn't honour the selection as other TVs do. No matter what I pick, it always puts BBC London + ITV London on 1/3/101/103 and the others in 800s. This is incorrect behaviour. FWIW, my Sky region mapping is BBC SE + ITV London (even though Meridian covers stories in my area/town and London doesn't).
