BYE BYE BUT may come back

After about 14 days, of trying sky stream , its on its way back.

At minute I get full tv, sky sports and 250mb broadband with v.m. the contract ends on Sept19th. So I thought I would try sky stream before deciding to get rid of v.m. I already asked v.m to take off my tv and phone and just leave me broadband, the price is astronomical for 125mb £54.

So, if I change b.b, to say ee, I will pay 44, then sky 48 on a monthly contract or 40 on long contract, either way its going to be around 80 to 88.

V.m are offering 250mb b.b, full tv, sky sport and weekend calls for £72.

Now, sky stream has issues, lip syncing, black screen, freezing pic, players moving fast  on sport, looping adverts when i want to play a prog from the start, all on current hardwired 250mb. So I cannot take the chance to pay hard earned dollars for such a failure. Shame as layout of sky stream is wonderful and when its good, its brilliant. So im in a quandery now,  any ideas on good reliable cheaper broadband?

Have you checked deals on the comparison sites for your address?

Re: BYE BYE BUT may come back

Yes, not much difference. I can get 125mb with v.m for £54. Then sky entertainment on now tv for 6.99, my freesat box covers the rest. Just sport needed.

V.m peed me off as last week, they offered a deal for £72. Asked me to wait a week as offers change weekly, this week same package £87.

Re: BYE BYE BUT may come back

These prices are not making much sense to me, I see 125mb broadband on their website for £26 right now, where that £54 is coming from I don't know

If I were you I'd phone virgin up and ask to cancel, they will offer you a very poor offer but say you want to cancel anyway

Insist on it no matter what they offer ,  very close to your actual disconnection date you will get a call from the proper retention department who will give you their very best prices

A long long time back I was on their Gig service on a deal for £37 a month, I phoned and cancelled and got a call two days before the actual disconnection and got offered Gig internet for 18 months at £24 a month

Sky Stream isn't fit for purpose right now, needs a lot of work

Re: BYE BYE BUT may come back

@DantheSwan Sky Stream may not be as robust as other streaming services for some ... but the fast majority find Sky Stream completely adequate🤔

Re: BYE BYE BUT may come back

The 26 is for new customers. The 54 is for me as a "valued customer"

It was the proper retentions team

I have unti sept 19th, which i will try again.

Re: BYE BYE BUT may come back

The proper retentions team do not phone you until just before your disconnection day, you have to go through with the cancellation fully

Re: BYE BYE BUT may come back

You were definitely not, you were put through to their in-house retentions who don't have the power to offer the best deals, the actual retentions team only get in  touch when the contract has been cancelled and disconnection is two or three days away

Imagine someone trying to help you get a much much better deal and you try telling them you know better when the best you can do is £54 for 125mb broadband?

If you had any sense whatsoever you'd pay attention to someone who knows what they're talking about and stop talking nonsense.

Re: BYE BYE BUT may come back

I believe the words end in off.

I can only go to the dept ,they put me through to. When it says "retentions" that is what it is, as far as im aware.

I believe what you want is a bit of civility.

Or a slap, cant make my mind up.

If, they come back once out of contract and offer a much better deal, so be it.

If not im on a rolling 30 day contract after that, so can leave.

But thanks for your input.

Re: BYE BYE BUT may come back

I never started this. All I did was respond.

I was only saying what I had been offered by the retentions team at the minute in time. I dont care if there is another retention team waiting in the wings,

I will get best deal possible, but my terms, not theirs. I know myself that as I have full tv, sport 250mb and weekend calls for £57 at minute, then 125mb at £54 on its own is a bad deal. What i did do was ask for my tv, sport and calls to be taken off, then put it on a rolling 30 day contract. Biding my time to get best deal. Didnt expect rubbish from swan.
