It is easy to access todays programmes listings and to see forward programmes. How do I access the previous week's programme listings?

Sky have never used the Freeview Play system.

You can't. The EPG does not allow looking back at the previous week's listings.

The slight problem with this however, is you need to know what you're searching for in the first place to use voice control...
The official Freeview app (available for all mobile devices) is actually quite useful for this purpose - it has the full previous 7 day channel listings on its EPG so you can at least search back through the free-to-air channels. If you were to then find a programme you liked the look of you can actually click on it in the Freeview app EPG to trigger the appropriate catch-up app to open (if you have it installed on your mobile device) and watch it, or if you want to watch it on Stream, you could use the voice search on the puck remote to find it on Sky's streaming platform...

I have always thought that Sky are missing a trick here. A backwards compatible epg would be useful. Virgin 360 and Stream box have this. Useful with the linked apps

Sky have never used the epg approach which I accept is great if you mainly watch linear channels which most people dont do anything like as much as they did. Sky make extensive recommendations based on the customers history of what they have watched in the past some of which are useful. The playlist function gives you access to not just last weeks episode but previous seasons when you find something you want to watch. There are multiple tens of thousand shows available going back far more than a week. .
When switching to a new system it takes time to get the best out of it.

Aren't TV schedules for the most part fairly stable ... looking at this week's schedule will be little different from last week and catch-up will supply last week's programmes🤔

True but not 100% reliable by this route. We douse catch up where possible but sometimes we are looking for a programme recommended by a friend with little info so looking at the eps for last week is helpful

Surely that is where the voice search becomes powerful though. If you are searching for a recommendation from a friend then even if they can't remember the name of the show, if they know the names of one of the actors in it, you will find it by searching for the actor.
