Sky store now download only?

Hi,

I was having a browse through the Sky Store as I have a little bit of credit left on my account and I do enjoy owning the DVD of movies and as such particularly like the fact you can get certain titles on Early Release and then the DVD arrives in the post.

However, I can't find any title in the Sky Store where the HD Digital + DVD buy and keep option is still available!

It seems to be just HD Digital download only for everything - but the price is still the same as it was for the HD Digital with DVD option!!

Have Sky stopped this service and gone download only?

Re: Sky store now download only?

Hello all,

Just a bit of clarification on the Buy & Keep physical availability questions raised:

Due to the current situation, we have taken the decision to temporarily suspend the option of adding a physical copy to your Buy & Keep order. This option will be made available again in the future once circumstances allow us to do so.

In the meantime, Buy & Keep purchases can still be made in the HD Digital only format, allowing you to order and access content on your compatible devices and Sky boxes.

@Caterbram I'm sorry you have yet to receive a reply to your email. We are extremely busy at the moment and are working as hard as we can to answer everyone as quick as we can in these difficult times.

@Blakeyster @christine1969  @RogPboro  The HD Digital + DVD and HD Digital + Blu-ray purchase options have always been at a higher than the HD Digital only option. This is because you are paying a little more to add the physical element to your HD digital order on these purchase types. Buy & Keep HD Digital only purchases are already lower in price than HD Digital + Physical just as they always have been, as you are not getting the physical element. The standard price of HD Digital will remain the same, save for any offers we might run as normal.

@NigelSky This is temporary and physical options will be made available again in the future once circumstances allow us to do so.

Kindest Regards,

Re: Sky store now download only?

I would also like an answer to this.

I did think that they may have had to shut down their dvd mailing system due to Covid19 lockdown.

But I've searched everywhere for an official Sky post about this.

All I can say is, if they think they can charge the same price for a digital copy, that you can only watch if you remain a Sky customer, that they charged for a digital AND a dvd..

I wont be buying from Sky Store anymore.

If this isnt the case, and it is a repercussion of the Covid19 lockdown,

Perhaps Sky could let all its customers know.

You know, just a thought...

Re: Sky store now download only?

I would like an answer to this also and an explanation of why the price of download only has not been reduced if a dvd etc is not now available. Without the dvd this is no longer an attractive proposition and i would then prefer to buy from alternatives such as prime.

Re: Sky store now download only?

Agreed. Renders Sky Store next to useless when you can just purchase from Play Store or Prime and cast.

Could someone please answer whether the removal of the dvd option is temporary?

Re: Sky store now download only?

Hi,  @Blakeyster  I contacted sky in regards to no dvd option, I was told  they have stopped dvds due to covid19 and said they will bring back dvds when  things get back to normal . Hope that helps

Re: Sky store now download only?

They should then reduce the price instead of charging the same without the disc. Some sre still on for £13.99 which is a rip off if your not getting the disc. Prime or play sre a better option.

Thank you. Apologies I had no idea this was related to covid19.

Re: Sky store now download only?

Understandable given the situation. However that doesn't help the fact I bought a film for full price and now I shall have to go and buy a physical copy at the same price for my collection. Will stick to store bought copies in future.

Re: Sky store now download only?

Hi @StevieP93

The HD Digital cost is less than the cost of HD Digital + Physical. So if you have purchased HD Digital only, you have paid the full price for the HD Digital element of that movie, not the full price for the Digital + Physical, which would have cost more.

Please feel free to contact us here in the Sky Store team at the other end of this when we resume providing the physical purchase option if you'd like to explore the option of upgrading your HD Digital only purchase to HD Digital + Physical upon paying the difference between the two formats.

Kind Regards,

Re: Sky store now download only?

We bought frozen 2 last night on buy and keep expecting a dvd. I double checked the faqs which says buy and keep is with a physical disc - dvd or Blu-ray, that's the 'keep' part! We've bought many and it's never cost more than £13.99 with a disc. We wouldn't have bought it at that price for just a digital copy.

Re: Sky store now download only?

Same here with a different film. Sounds like sky saving a few quid during the virus outbreak
