Possible Sky VIP Rewards email scam

My wife, who is the other/additional user on our Sky TV account, has just received an email inviting her to claim a Sky VIP Rewards HD movie from Sky Store. The email was sent to her email address but the content is addressed to me, the primary account holder.
The email includes an instruction to click on a 'CLAIM NOW' box and to enter a long code shown below the box. The email looks genuine in every other respect.
However, I have recently received a similar email to claim a movie. which I then went on to do.  I cannot remember however if the claim process asked me to click on a box. I seem to remember being instructed to logon to my Sky account and visit the Sky Rewards page directly to claim the movie.
I suspect this is a scam. My wife has received such emails before and we have always ignored them.
So, is this a scam, as I suspect, or are additional users entitled to rewards as well as the primary account holder?
If it is a scam, is there a Sky email address that it can be forwarded to?

Regards

Paul

Morning @PaulinHG

If you go to your forum settings and go to "my profile" you can add in a few things you want to say about yourself

i learned just by playing around with it

Some people like to mention what equipment they have.  That can be useful when you ask a question (so potential readers can see - ah yes - he has Sky Q / an Oled TV / a speaker system etc)

My main reason to be on the forum is that it's (usually) a calm friendly forum where I can chat and improve my knowledge- then if I have time - try to help others

Hi @PaulinHG

You should only receive one free VIP welcome movie - although from time to time you do get occasional extra movies (such as at Christmas)

this is quite a good link although perhaps more for sky mobile - it should be useful

Re: Possible Sky VIP Rewards email scam

Thanks for your reply. I have actually seen that info earlier whilst investigating this.
im pretty sure Sky would not send a Sky VIP Rewards email to anyone other than the account holder ie me. I've claimed about 4 films over the last few years but those notifications to claim have always been emailed to me, not my wife.
Thanks anyway for you reply and help.

I agree @PaulinHG that only the main account holder would receive an official email

I have heard of customers receiving reminder emails but if they've tried to claim twice - the second hasn't worked

the obvious suggestion would be only to ever sign in to a Sky account through the official sky page and not to click on (potentially dodgy) links - but I'm sure you're on to that.

Yes absolutely @@mike+simmonds. I may be what you call a 'silver surfer' these days but working with PCs and CAD for thirty years+ and home PCs as my main hobby since early 90s makes one kinda suspicious of many things, no matter how genuine they may look.

You could always check this with Sky Store support, it is closed now but at 11am tomorow the live chat will open:

https://www.skystore.com/help/contact-us

If they say the email isn't from Sky then you can forward it on to this address - abuse@sky.com

Re: Possible Sky VIP Rewards email scam

Thanks @caesarome. I will try that. I checked earlier about scam emails and it says to forward them as an attachment (I presume that's safer than forwarding directly). I need to check how to do that. I'm with BTinternet not Sky mail.
Further to my original post, I think I have claimed free HD movies previously  by visiting Sky Store directly through my Sky Q box on TV and buying it for £0.00.

Re: Possible Sky VIP Rewards email scam

Thanks @mike+simmonds. You spotted the double '@@' then 🤣
Bit of a giveaway that I'm not a regular forum user I guess ..... 🙄

Looks like you've been with Sky forever. I managed to resist the temptation 'til 2000. 🙂

Is it customary to include one's equipment list too? Is that picked up from elsewhere (your profile perhaps) or do you add that manually for each of your posts/replies?
