My son had rented a movie in uhd but we can't watch is. Is there anyway we can cancel this (and not get charged!) And buy the sd

If you haven't pressed play (or haven't been able to because of the format you've chosen) you shouldn't be charged.

What you need to do @Sarah216 is to delete the rental and make sure it is deleted from the deleted folder. Now you can rent it again in HD.
