taking over a sky service

Is it possible to take over an existing hardware set up (sky Q main box and three mini boxes all connected through a SKY bridge) from the previous owner of a property I have bought? they've left all the kit inc tv. Or do I need to start again from scratch?

No, sky do not allow transfer of accounts to other people.  The previous owner needs to  cancel & return their equipment, you need to then order Sky Q under your own account.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

hi @ed+adams

Unfortunately not, you will need to start from scratch

SKy don't have any method of transferring existing kit between customers

The previous owner will be being chased for the return of the SKY Q boxes & will be charged if they are not returned.

e pRe: taking over a sky service

thanks for your reply. Interesting - so the previous owner will have to return the kit from a property they no longer have access to (a holiday home which is locked up and left a lot)?

One more question - after the previous owner cancels their account does the sky q main box and associated mini boxes still work as a 'tv aerial' ie free channels only??

thanks again

No, the equipment has to be returned and has no use without subs.
