Why can I not hear spotify tracks with gapless playback when fed from my iphone to sky q? for example, where an album has continuous playing like Floyd or Jarre for example, there is a gap between each 'track' when playing.

If the content is coming from your iPhone then perhaps you should be asking Apple.

I have no problem playing gapless through to other devices. I cannot help feel this is a sky q problem fed via broadband perhaps?

Many Spotify features including gapless playback, crossfade and volume normalisation aren't supported on the TV version of the app.

This is unfortunately common with many streaming services on all platforms and devices.
Album streams are not the same as a CD or vinyl - the track skipping identifiers are interpreted differently by different providers/apps/devices. Some will always add a brief second of silence as it registers the track change.
The Spotify app on iOS does have a gapless playback option - do you have this turned on? It's under the playback settings menu. I no longer have a Q box and I never used the Spotify app on it so I don't know if it is capable of outputting gapless playback when fed from another device.

Not sure but it appears to be a limitation of the Spotify TV app in general rather than a Sky specific issue.
