recordings freezing

I have a problem with my Q box. It suddenly freezes on a recorded programmes and I have to switch it off at the mains and reboot. This is becoming more frequent and the box is making a noticeable whirring noise that wasn't there before. This started a few months ago and a reboot sorted it out but now it is happenning several times a day.
