hi @seahorsenufc

There will be a few times when your remote must have line of sight of the box - initially & then if things get reset.

Otherwise once paired SKY Q Remotes use bluetooth which do not need line of sight - my SKY Q box is on a shelf behind my TV and works very well (in fact I have used the remote from my rear garden with the box in my front lounge)

We must, however, caution placing a SKY Q box where it might not have sufficient ventilation & the main box in particular should be horizontal not vertical as the Hard disc & other components use the top of the box to release the heat generated

@seahorsenufcUnless it made of something including metal foil etc it should just work as it is Blutooth.

Hi @seahorsenufc   All Sky Q Voice remotes work using Bluetooth. Mine works through three walls and a floor.

@seahorsenufcAs you have a touch controller you may have one of the original set ups where two controllers were supplied BUT one was IR and not Bluetooth so will not work through walls.

Try this link for help with your Q remotes, it will also help identify which controller you have, there were two types of touch controllers one, the later one had a button in the centre of the disc, all touch controllers have been replaced with a button only Bluetooth one.

All touch remotes are bluetooth capable - in fact the touch feature requires bluetooth  just like voice control does- I have had all versions

The only 'infrared only' versions are old mini remotes that did not have a voice button (or touch pad of course)

You should be able to  pair any non infrared only remote - but note only one remote can be paired with the box itself - only the last one paired remains paired & can be used for voice control
