Youtube from PC on Skyq

A while back when I was using Sky Broadband, I had a Sky router as well as the Sky Q box, and If i watched Youtube on my PC, it would give an option to 'cast' to the TV from YT itself. Now I'm not with Sky for Broadband, I don't use there router, that feature is not there. There is a youtube app on Sky Q which requires account setup to use.

I'm just wondering, was the Cast to TV feature something special with the Router? which seams a but unlikely but does clearyl seam to be true.

I know Sky Q has 'limiting' casting features compared to what the tech allows, but is there anyway for this feature to work without the router?

@ManicMan the ability to watch a You Tube video on another device requires you to be signed in to the You Tube app on both devices with the same account. It isnt casting in the true meaning what is happening is Google's server knows what video you want to watch on your PC and stream it to the TV's app.

Re: Youtube from PC on Skyq

okay. that's weird that it needs to be signed in in both cause.. I don't remember ever signing into any account with the Sky Q box, nor do I use any youtube application on my PC..

but okay, no problem and yes, I'm aware that it is not really casting, though I was able to control the timeline from the PC.

thanks

You don't need an app to be signed in
