Why sky q does not allow me to add time to series link recordings

If I have a series link set on a live sports program like F1 or snooker and it is late finishing due to an accident or like with snooker frames last a lot longer, when the program is scheduled to finish we miss the ending, with virgin tv you can add 10 mins or. 30 mins or even 1 or 2 hours to the end of a recording so I do not miss the ending, why can sky not do the same?

@Ron26 Sky do do it on the older Sky+ HD boxes with new it was never added as each broadcaster shuold be updating the programme guide if programmes run longer which means the recording would run longer to the end of the programme as I said it should be done but invariably its not done by most broadcasters including Sky so as @Daniel0210 says the way around this is to record the programme after the one you are recording
