Why do the remote controls for Sky Q cause so many issues?

Has something changed that you can only have 1 Sky Q remote paired to the main box? We've always had 2 Sky Q remotes (don't ask - both were genuine) -  1 with the voice button, 1 without. Our Sky Q box had to be replaced so the controller without the voice button went back and we got a new remote with the new box. The new one has the voice button.

We paired the new remote - had issues getting it to work - but eventually, it did. Paired the older remote, had the same issues, but got that working in the end too. When we tried the new remote, it had stopped controlling Sky, but would turn the tv off and the volume up and down.

During set up, our TV is a Hisense and the model number isn't recognised and when it goes through all 15 options it doesn't work, but when you come out of the settings, you find there is some control to the remote. I don't know how we did it, but we got 1 working, then tried the other and the first stopped again!

I'm losing the will to live with this and I've lost count of the number of times we've reset each remote today and re-paired it. Could there be some sort of conflict going on between the 2 remotes?

Hi @Jaxee

Afraid that there has always been the restriction where you can only pair one Bluetooth Voice rrmote to a Q box.

Howevever you can pair one Bluetooth remote and one Infrared remote (without Voice control).

Using the following procedure you can pair two Bluetooth remotes but one must be in infrared mode.

Afraid you can only pair one Bluetooth remote to a Q box. This hasn't changed.
The only way you can use two remotes is using one of them in infrared mode.
If you want to use TV volume on both remotes proceed as follows.
Set the first remote as normal by pairing as follows
Make sure that you are pointing your remote at the Q box and press 1 & 3 together until the remote led flashes and follow onscreen instructions to re- pair.
Check that it works the TV.
Then press and hold 4 & 6 together until the remote led flashes. This will disconnect the Bluetooth so that the remote will control the Q box by infrared and TV volume by infrared. There will be no Voice control on this remote.
Then on the second remote completely reset the Bluetooth remote.
Press and hold 7 & 9 together on the remote until it’s led flashes four times.
Then make sure that you are pointing your remote at the Q box and press 1 & 3 together until the remote led flashes and follow onscreen instructions to re- pair.

This will work the Q box by Blutooth and the TV by infrared. You will have voice control on this remote.

Re: Why do the remote controls for Sky Q cause so many issues?

Hi @oldfella

Thank you for your reply. It explains why it worked previously - one remote had voice activation and one didn't!  I will follow your instructions to get both working, even if one doesn't have the voice activation.

Thank you again - much appreciated
