When the screen goes blank press home to get started problem

Sky box has failed with a couple of recordings recently and last two days been stuck on same channel despite trying to change channels or play recordings..  turned off and left and turned back on, followed online guides on here but now just cycling through the three steps ending with the blue screen and message to push home when screen goes blank.  Has done it about 5 times now and still can't get it back on.  Having read a few posts on here seems to be a fairly common issue and means the box has failed?  Can someone advise please?

Best to just leave sky. Have reported this issue to sky for months and they don't care about it.
